Introduction

Welcome to the Knight 11.2! This unit explores the relationship between people and religion. It considers the solutions or responses offered by religion to problems that exist in society. These problems are recognised as moral, ethical and social issues and the Catholic Church responds to them in ways that reflect its adherence to Tradition and Revelation. This unit will focus on peoples' concerns for justice and social justice and how the Church guides peoples' decision making in response to issues of justice and social justice.

Term 2

Week 8

Because this unit is loaded with content, we will spend the first period mooching around and then get stuck into the topics, so that by the end of the week, we will have a clear idea of what is involved and how our first assessment task will address personal identity, religious identity and the search for meaning.

Week 9

In this week, we will consider Key Understanding 1, which focuses on people's desire for peace and harmony. Justice is related to this desire and the concerns that people have about this desire being thwarted. We will place this theme in the context of personal identity and the search for meaning.

Week 10

We will focus on our first assessment task.

Week 11

We will be going on retreat this week.

Term 3

Week 1

During this week, we will focus on Key Understanding 2: The Bible reveals God's plan for how all of creation relates. The term "God's state of original justice" will be explained and applied to some justice issues. We will complete our reflection this week with a consideration of the effects of sin on God's original justice.

Week 2

We will address issues relating to Key Understanding 3: God the Father sent Jesus to restore goodness and justice.

Week 3

During this week we will consider the following Key Understandings: 5, 6 and 7.
