Lebenswelt

Introduction

I spent many years of my teaching life involved with the Young Christian Students Movement (YCS) as an Adult Assistant. Recently, I began help0ing with the Young Christian Workers Movement (YCW).

Both movements once dominated the Catholic world in Australia. Today, they struggle to survive in a post-Christian country.

YCW was founded by Canon Joseph Cardijn (1882-1967), a Belgian Catholic priest, who dedicated his life to help young workers transform themselves, one another and the world.

Good phenomenological lifeworld studies always do two things: (I) they provide concrete portrayals of lived experiences, and (2) they offer insightful reflections on the meanings of those experiences.
